When will Wordle run out of five letter words?

Fans of riotously popular word game Wordle need not fret — for now at least — about the daily challenge running out of five letter words. According to WordFinderX, there are over 158,000 five-letter English language words, depending which dictionary you refer to. That’s several centuries of daily puzzles.
On the other extreme, we are told there are a mere 5,350 words only available to word games. Even so, that makes for fourteen and a half year’s worth of units of language. Plenty of time to worry about what to do next. Let the fun continue.

The National Pleasure Audit

The National Pleasure Audit is presently open to Australians aged eighteen and over. Conducted by Dr Desirée Kozlowski, a researcher at Southern Cross University, the audit aims to find out what brings joy — by whatever means — to people. Participation is anonymous, so anything goes, though you can submit an email address if you wish to be sent the results of the audit.

The Wriggles top the Hottest 100 with Elephant

Australian children’s pop group and entertainers The Wiggles have taken out the number one spot in Australian radio station Triple J’s annual Hottest 100 countdown, with a cover of Perth based act Tame Impala’s 2012 song Elephant. Topping the coveted listener’s poll is notable for two reasons this year, it is the first time a children’s act has been voted number one, likewise a Like A Version cover song.

A gift for people who have everything? Could well be. Sydney based writer Ashley Kalagian Blunt, has a suggestion. What’s one thing we like talking about, apart from ourselves? Our favourite story. If someone took the time to read a book you especially like, and then sat down with you for an hour or so to discuss it, wouldn’t that be enjoyable? It doesn’t have to be a book though. A movie or an album also works. I think it’s true, experiences make the best presents.

Vale Craig Ruddy, artist and past Archibald Prize winner

Sydney born Australian artist Craig Ruddy, who’s painting of late Australian actor and dancer David Gulpilil, won the 2004 Archibald Prize for portraiture, died on Tuesday this week, from COVID-19 complications. A sad loss for the Australian art community.

Find a RAT, a Rapid Antigen Test kit in Australia

Find a RAT in Australia, is a great and timely initiative by Melbourne based Australian application developer Matt Hayward, to help people locate Rapid Antigen Test kits to self-test for COVID-19.
With people in some locations reporting waiting several hours, sometimes longer, to take a PCR test, and waiting days instead of hours for the result because of the strain some test providers are under, a Rapid Antigen Test may be the only option some people have.
In recent days though RAT kits have become difficult to find, not to mention at a reasonable price, but hopefully Find a RAT will assist in locating them.

Rabbit Hole short story contest 2022

Recent additions meanwhile to their repository include Shouting and Weeping Creatures, by California based American sci-fi and horror writer Anna Ziegelhof, a story told from the point of view of a planet not unlike Earth.
