EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, with 2001: A Space Odyssey vibes
15 December 2025
While making the Elvis biopic, which was released in 2022, Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann succeeded in finding unseen, but rumoured to exist, footage of American singer Elvis Presley.
The reels, located in a Warner Bros. archive in the US state of Kansas, featured much unused footage of Presley, originally recorded during the production of two documentaries made about him in the 1970’s. The found footage also contained interviews with Presley which apparently have not been heard before.
Combining the unseen footage and the interviews, Luhrmann has produced EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert. The documentary, though Luhrmann prefers to see it as a continuation of the Presley story, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year, where it was reportedly received enthusiastically by audiences.
EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert will begin screening in cinemas from February 2026.
But how good is the trailer?

The website song: everyone is free to write websites, an IndieWeb anthem
13 August 2024
Everybody’s Free (To Write Websites), by Robb Knight, and Keenan. Spectacularly riffing off Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann’s 1999 video, the Sunscreen Song, this is for the graduating Indie Web class of whenever. There is an abundance of sage advice here.
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, coding would be it. The long term benefits of coding websites remains unproved by scientists, however the rest of my advice has a basis in the joy of the indie web community’s experiences. I will dispense this advice now.
There’s so much goodness here, I don’t know where to begin choosing my favourite lines. Enjoy the power and beauty of PHP. Code one thing every day that amuses you. Remember the guestbook entries you receive; forget the spam. And: Some of the most interesting web sites I enjoy just are.

Elvis Presley’s Edge of Reality remixed by Tame Impala
28 June 2022
Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis bio-pic has a lot of talking points. But then again what films by Baz Luhrmann don’t? The near three hour runtime (four for the director’s cut apparently), and the accent Tom Hanks uses in his portrayal of Colonel Tom Parker, for starters.
Then there’s the contemporary remixes of Presley’s classic hits, including Edge of Reality, reimagined by Perth based Australian one-person act Tame Impala. Plenty to talk about here.
